well when i logged out and then clicked Become a Deviant, i clicked the Terms and Service button and it says all that, so technically, they dont resell/own your work/content unless they have really screwed up and have updated one terms page and have forgotten about the one i viewed but i doubt that

edit: plus do you really think deviantart would be stupid enough to pull a prank off like that... deviantART is a huge community, if they pulled this prank off intentially then they must of known that someone would bound to off come across the editing of the TOS, tbh, i think it's all bull

Let's put it this way: The only thing they sell on the site, besides subscriptions, are prints. Prints, which they make, are sold to where the artist and the company that makes them recieves profit. The company, dA, needs to make profit in order to continue making the site, so they take as much as they can (thats fair) off the top of the profit made by the prints and subscriptions.

It's normal business practice for this sort of thing. If you all are just now noticing this stuff, you need to read the ToS/U at every place you register for.

Wait... people, do you not know what that means?

"non-exclusive" means they aren't the only ones to hold a copyright. It means they are allowed to put it as examples in magazines (as on medium) and you get no royalty (which is obvious, considering you are using it for free).

I'm sure the subscribers ToU is different in that aspect.

I agree that probably nothing can break their dominance now. Even if something does, it will take forever to do so..

DA has turned into way too much of a corporation, and way too little of a community now. Used to be the other way around, and thats why people loved it there..

just because there is a new guy, doesnt mean to say they'd be suicidle and practally kill there site... the main owner of the site isn't dumb, he isnt some 13 year old who wants to prank everyone, he has probably been to university or something, he wouldnt make his site just die because of a silly prank
